SWC Members often share with their lists interesting websites they've discovered. I collect them all to share with you in each newsletter (I also throw in a few of my own). In the next issue, I'm going to start a section of Members' Home Pages. If you have a Home Page about anything at all, please send me the URL along with your name, and the list you belong to. You'll be famous!!!
Now read on....explore....and watch your "Favorites" grow!
The National Cued Speed Association (NCSA)
This is an interesting site that explains how the cueing of a traditionally spoken language works as the visual counterpart of speaking it. Cueing makes available to the eye(s) the same linguistic building blocks that speaking avails the ear(s). The site has a cued speed demo that you can download. Try it out!
For further information, here's the official site of the NCSA
Deaf Web Washington
Deaf Web Washington keeps you and this WWW site up-to-date by adding new information, articles, programs, and links every week (well, nearly!).
Informed Consumer Guide to Assistive Technology for People with Hearing Disabilities
Deaf-Hearing Communication Centre, Inc
Their Mission is to promote equal communication accessibility, and cultural awareness to the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing populations by providing quality communication services, advocacy, and educational programs.
Hearing Innovations Incorporated
Hearing Innovations Incorporated announces a breakthrough in a digital hearing aid product designed to help the profoundly deaf. As an alternative to a cochlear implant or if you aren't satisfied with your current hearing aids, check this out.
Now here's some links just for fun!
This is a little game that has a pretty funny/creepyoutcome. It takes about 3 minutes, and it's worth it!
Lessons from the Geese
This fall, when you see geese heading south for the winter flying along in "V" formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way.
The Age Gauge
Type in your birthday, and find out your age in comparison to celebrities, and how old you were during important events.
I'm not quite sure how to explain this one, other than moving balls that you can control. Must try it!
Olleyowl's Greeting Cards
I love sending e-cards, and I found this site to be one of the better ones.
That's it for now. I hope you've enjoyed these links, and I'd love to check out your favorites to share in the next SWC OnlineVoices. Please e-mail your Favorites or Home Page address email@example.com
and include "Sights to See" in the subject line.
Until next time......stay healthy, safe, and most of all....unique.
